Does Hand2Note work on Mac OS?

For many years, the Windows operating system had no competition. The development of Apple gave an alternative in the form of Mac OS. Soon many software companies started to support both platforms. But poker is still dominated by Windows.

Only recently have poker rooms bothered to release versions of their clients for Apple devices. But if rooms have already adapted to Mac OS, most poker software developers still ignore it. So how is the poker tracker Hand2Note doing?

How to play poker with Hand2Note on Mac OS?

Hand2Note has no version for Mac OS. The tracker only works on Windows. If we consider the whole market of programs for collecting statistics, only PokerTracker 4 has full support for Apple devices. Other popular trackers don't work on Mac OS. On the Holdem Manager 3 forum, a support representative suggests using PT4. The more recently launched DriveHUD 2 also ignores Apple.

However, there is still a way to run and play with H2N on the Mac OS. Except that it will require extra effort and, in some cases, even expense. We are talking about special applications that allow you to work with programs for Windows on Apple devices. The most popular solutions for Windows on Mac OS are Parallels, BootCamp and Wine.

Parallels. The first application that could run Windows programs on Apple devices. Parallels was released way back in 2006.

Windows apps run faster with each update

It is now used by over 7,000,000 people. To start using it, you have to:

1. Download and install Parallels on your PC or laptop.
2. Use Parallels to download and install Windows or another operating system.
3. Download Hand2Note on this system and install it already.

One of the drawbacks of working with Parallels is the laborious process of installing the application itself, then Windows and only then the tracker. And if these settings can be solved at once and never return to them, the second drawback is more important - the cheapest version of the emulator costs $80. Coupled with the Hand2Note subscription, paying extra money for Parallels will not appeal to everyone.

BootCamp. A program that allows you to install the Windows operating system on an Apple PC or laptop. The main difference from Parallels is that Windows is fully installed on the device. A reboot is required to switch between operating systems. BootCamp was developed by Apple; the first version appeared in 2006. The key advantage of the technology is that it is built into the iMac or MacBook. You do not have to buy and download it separately. But it is not called a convenient solution, because it is tiresome to reload the system every time for the sake of poker. This is not counting the fuss with installing Windows via disk or USB-flash: just download and install the OC is impossible.

Wine. If you don't want to install a virtual machine or a whole operating system, there is a simpler solution - Wine emulator. It runs individual Windows programs without any major problems. An important argument in favor of Wine is that it is free software, i.e. developers share them with the whole world for free. The argument against it is that not all Windows applications work.

Not as spectacular as Parallels, but free!

Will the developers add Mac OS support to Hand2Note?

This question was answered by the creators of Hand2Note five years ago on the tracker forum: "There will be no support for Mac OS". That's it, are we splitting up? Not really - Hand2Note 4 closed beta test started in June 2021.

The new version of the software promises full support for Apple devices. The updated tracker was going to be released at the end of 2021, but as of April 2022, the release has still not happened. The developers have not published additional information.
