Is there an online version of Flopzilla?

19.04.2022

Over the past 22 years, online poker has gone from something-not-quite-working software to the best and most convenient clients. Specialized poker software has evolved in parallel. Since the 2010s, solvers for working out a balanced game entered the market. They were already inextricably linked with the Internet and made calculations in the "cloud". But what about simpler programs? Is there a version of Flopzilla that works online?

Where to look for Flopzilla online?

The official website of the developer of Flopzilla is the obvious place to look. However, there is no cloud-based version of the equity calculator on it. We are offered a simple site with 5 tabs:

  • Home. A presentation of the program functions with slides and a button to go to FZ download.
  • Download. Direct links to download Flopzilla and Flopzilla Pro.
  • Purchase. Payment for program license and a button to request the keys.
  • Contact. Three email addresses for feedback.
  • HoldEq. A link to a free add-on to Flopzilla. Helps you estimate the strength of ranges in direct comparison.

In the updated version of the FZ this function is implemented in the program and there is no need to download anything separately

Nothing else on the site. Navigating to other sites does not give any result either. We conclude that there is no online version of Flopzilla.

Why haven't the developers made a separate online solution? Two key factors: 1) the program performs excellent calculations even on a modest hardware; 2) a one-week trial is enough to demonstrate the program functions.

The situation is similar with other equity calculators: neither Power-Equilab, nor Oranges Calculator, nor Holdem Resources Calculator offer an online version. There is a free version of Equilab, but it only covers some of the features of the full calculator. And it still has to be downloaded and installed.

What makes Flopzilla so good?

The vast majority of experienced players and coaches recommend that beginners buy 2 programs: a poker tracker and an equity calculator. There is no unanimous opinion on the best tracker, but with the calculator the answer is obvious - take Flopzilla. This is what the program can do:

  • Quickly and easily estimates range hits on the board. You set the group of hands in the matrix and common cards of the flop (turn, river), and FZ shows the number of top pairs, second pairs, flush draws, gutshots.
  • Saves ranges. You need to specify specific hands on the matrix and save them.
  • Sorts hands. There are options to switch between displaying combinations in percentage or quantitative modes.
  • Shows equity of the hand against the range.
  • Demonstrates the effect of the next card (runout) on range strength and hand equity.
  • Transfers saved files in text format. They can be shared with other players or posted on poker forums.

Flopzilla Pro solves a whole bunch of problems of the previous version

These are not all of the functions of the software. More on how the program works in our "The complete guide to Flopzilla".

Another advantage of the equity calculator is its price. A lifetime license costs only $25. And since 2019, along with the regular program comes its improved version - Flopzilla Pro. It is free for all FZ owners. Read about the differences of versions in a separate article.
